Hotel Parking : Just checked our contract with the El Tropicana Hotel again and confirmed that SELF PARKING FOR ALL USS DONNER PARTICIPANTS IS ---FREE----
Lower cost local transportation Airport to Hotel : ...individuals arriving by air can take city bus #5 from the airport to the intersection of North St. Mary's and Lexington. That crossing intersects the 200 block of North St. Mary's and the 900 block of Lexington. The El Tropicana Hotel is located at 217N St. Mary's. There is an official city bus stop at that intersection. All USS DONNER sailors may ask the bus driver to point them toward the hotel....a few steps away from the bus stop. I served on Donner from 1959 thru Aug.1961. I was diagnosed with mesothelioma left lung on Jan. 26 2010. Was wondering if you or any crew member knew of anyone else who served on Donner that has been diagnosed with same thing.
